Learn more about Encinitas

Declared as one of the Top 10 surf neighborhoods in the United States by Surfer Magazine – Encinitas is home to many surfers and lovers of the sport. The land which the Encinitas City Hall sits on used to be owned by Charlie Chaplin’s older brother, Syd! Located in between Carlsbad and Solana Beach and a little more than 24 miles north of Downtown San Diego.

The shopping district in Encinitas dates back to over 100 years ago. Today you will find cute boutique shops and sidewalk cafes. The beaches of Encinitas have a very relaxed “forever-summer” vibe to them. Every time we are on them it’s as if we remove ourselves from reality and are living in a tropical getaway, truly spectacular. There are lots of monthly and annual city events, like Classic Car Nights where hotrods and classic cars line Main Street while the ’50s and 60’s cover bands play live music. Annually there is the Encinitas Holiday Street Fair where over 450 local vendors gather to share and support the local business alike.

Each community of Encinitas has a unique vibe and they each hold onto them today. The main communities are Old Encinitas which is home to a mixture of business and residential homes due to the proximity of Highway 1. Old Encinitas is also where the world-famous surf spot, swamis is located. New Encinitas, as the name suggests, is a new part of Encinitas. New Encinitas offers great shopping, golf courses, and newer large tract homes. To the east, you’ll find Olivenhain which offers a much more rural and open feel. Homes located within Olivenhain are often equestrian properties with allowing for animals like horses, chickens, etc. Most of this area is full of single-family homes with larger lot sizes. In the northwest part of the city sits Leucadia which is home to Beacons and Grandview beach, also awesome surf spots. Leucadia is also known for its tree-lined roads and a good amount of art galleries, interesting shops, restaurants, and taco stands. Lastly, to the south is Cardiff-by-the-sea which is the southernmost part of Encinitas. All the streets in Cardiff-by-the-sea are named after British cities and classical composers. All together Encinitas offers a well-rounded tight-knit city feel that has kept ahold of the welcoming California vibe.
The schools are also top-nauch in the Encinitas school district. Flora Vista Elementary is one of the top-rated elementary schools. There are also no shortages of after-school programs for kids to participate in such as the Junior Lifeguards.
Filled with beauty and love, its residents are proud to call it home. There is something to keep in mind when visiting or living in Encinitas, and that is loving in what the locals call ” the Encinitas mindset”. Enjoying all of what the city has to offer while giving back to the community every opportunity you receive.
